A puzzling thread...
Popped in to see Uncle A today. I haven’t been neglecting him, it’s just that my cousin has been staying with him all last week, so his every need was catered for. But I will resume my shopping and ironing duties.
He has an army of carers in. Well, one in the morning to help him get up and showered etc and one in the evening. Wonderful service, and he’s really appreciating it. The carer, the physio, and indeed Uncle A himself have all noticed a strange bit of thread coming out of the wound, and it seems to be getting longer - it’s now more than three inches!
There have been earnest discussions about what to do about it - Cut it off? Pull it out?? What if it's attached to something??? The physio phoned the doctor and a nurse is coming round the view the growing thread on Wednesday. It may be six inches long by then!
Popped down to the duck pond, as it’s nearby. I’m still trying to get an action shot of marauding gulls fighting over a piece of bread. A few 'almosts' today.
As usual, plenty of people feeding the birds, so I didn’t need to use my supply of special food. I was pleased to see this wee tot and her grandparents were feeding them proper swan and duck food. I asked if I could take photos of the wee girl, and I noticed the man had a Nikon DSLR. I commented on it, and he glanced at my camera (at least, I’m sure he did).
No worries - I seized my moment ...
‘It’s an Olympus PEN E-P5. Just released.’
He didn’t run off. So I continued, and showed him all the wee tricks it could do, including (me) bending over using the flip out touch screen with AF. He made admiring noises (of the camera). He was becoming interested (in the camera)…
We compared ISO ranges and shutter speeds. He was very interested.
I took off the wee lens, and handed it to him. It’s about the size and weight of a cupcake. He liked it. He compared the camera weights….
He used to be a semi-professional photographer and took wedding photos in the days of film cameras. He does’t take his big DSLR out so often these days…
By the time we parted, he was saying that I’d got him thinking…
