Life's Little Moments

Sammy

Sammy's mom texted me this morning to see if I wanted to head out for lunch today, an idea I leapt at since I have been kind to trapped inside by the heat the last few days.  Before I picked her up, I also grabbed a camera because I figured I'd grab a few pics of the adorable Sammy.  After lunch we took the little dude out for some pics - mindful of the heat, we kept it very short.  And not forgetting that he is a puppy who is still learning some basic obedience so getting a shot like this (where he isn't running towards me) isn't all that easy!  No complaints here - he's adorable and so cuddly.  In this shot, he was holding the "stay" although a nanosecond later he was headed straight for me.  This will be the last pics I get of him with his puppy coat so you will see a different looking Sammy the next time I post him.  So grateful for friends who let me take as many pics as I want of their dogs!

This is the last day of our "heat dome" with temps expected to be back around 80 tomorrow.  It has been so hot the last few days that it's even been hard to find insects in the garden.  Mostly, they are hiding in shady spots to avoid being toasted under the direct sun.  Some insects, like mosquitoes, actually dehydrate and die when in high heat and direct sun.  Of course, those same mosquitoes lurk in the nearest patches of shade, just waiting for their blood feast (only the females - the males dine on nectar).

Ten days until I leave for Brazil!

xoxo
