Life of a bubble maker

Otter crossing

Up early this morning for J’s birthday and took the dogs for a walk on the beach, Darwin had a great time running and swimming and he was broken by the time we got back. Bacon rolls for breakfast and then headed out to find the first distillery. Benbecula distillery has opened recently and the main spirit still is housed in a replica of lighthouse lamp area and was fantastic to look around. Went to the local butchers after the tour to get some food for tonight and then headed back to the distillery for some lunch. From there it was over to the other distillery on the island, which mainly makes gin but they are just starting to make whisky. Built in an old steadings from the 1700’s North Uist distillery was very small and interesting. Gin tasting was nice but it would be good to get a cask of the whiskey when they make it as they can only make 1 cask a day as they are using Bere barley, which is a heritage grain with a lower yield. Stopped off at a local craft shop on the way back to the campsite for an early dinner. Took the dogs for a walk along the dune tops and then back along the beach. Turned out to be some long swims for Kilda and Darwin when they didn’t see where the balls landed. Kilda managed to find hers while Darwin’s is still out at sea as he won’t listen to directions when out swimming.
