Sun and rain

After yesterday’s wedding celebration we were quite tired this morning. So a quick jaunt to Bents garden centre for coffee and scones. Bought a few herb plants, some kohlrabi plants and a tray of 6 dwarf sunflowers. My plan is that the raised beds will be filled with perennials, but these annuals will fill in the gaps while the perennials mature.

My parents headed home after a light lunch, and I coated up some paper for a spinach anthotype workshop later in the week before going to the gym.

After I got home, I planted out everything into the raised beds… and of course the rain arrived. See extras for a giggle at how damp I was by the time I finished. I’m hopeful that the rain (which has been fairly steady for a good couple of hours) will help wet the new topsoil in the front garden so I can plant some seeds for a large wild/pollinator flower patch tomorrow. It’s a little bit late in the season, so I’m not sure how well it will work but if it doesn’t then I will try something different next year.
