Another Gull
And another view of the Spinnaker tower in the background, from the other side of the water this time.
Another busy day too. I forgot to say yesterday that we still did 12k to 14k steps. Today we have done 12k to 13k. My count was closer to mrsfb's this time as I climbed to the top of the keep at Portchester Castle, in the extra. My knees were aching for a while. I've also added a view from the top, that tower in the distance again. The gull was battling with the wind outside the castle walls.
It started very warm again so after looking around the ruins we had some local ice creams. Then we drove on to Gosport. I aimed for Gosport Waterfront, which seemed rather difficult to navigate to. Eventually we found a car park and then walked on to the marina. There wasn't much else to discover but we ended up in a nice restaurant overlooking the yachts. We had intended just to have some drinks but somehow found ourselves having a Sunday lunch. It was super, and great value as cauliflower cheese was included rather than being an optional extra. All the other customers seemed to know each other, and the owner, and were either dog people or yacht people I think. We may have been the first tourists Gosport has seen for a while.
Afterwards we drove on to Lee-on-the-Solent. By now it had got quite breezy. I wore my fleece for the first time this week.
We've got a dinner reservation in the hotel restaurant this evening - not sure why after a Sunday roast, but all those steps give you an appetite. This is our last night so we will have the journey home tomorrow, maybe with a stop in Winchester.
