Spend a Summer Day. . . .
It's hard to believe it took us this long to get there, but on this, the first full day of summer, my husband and I finally went swimming at Bald Eagle State Park. It's to be really, really hot for a couple of days, starting with Sunday. So we wanted to get out and have some fun before all of the crazy heat gets started.
We went to the park, had a very nice swim and a delightful cold outdoor shower (and learned they will begin paving the road by the park on Monday), stopped in Bellefonte to get books at the library (and learned that on-street parking is free after noon on Saturdays), and picked up a takeout hoagie from Jim's Italian Cuisine to eat at home.
I knew I wouldn't be able to pick just one photo, so I sort of cheated and made a collage, and then photographed that. So above you may see:
*the killdeer guarding her nest by the parking lot at the park,
*a wide scene of the beach at Bald Eagle,
*a cicada (of which there were many!) at the park,
*the Bellefonte library bench,
*me in my red swimsuit (yes, the same one that made me the star of Amish Baywatch that one time) and a broad-brimmed hat at the park,
*the books I picked out at the library,
*an artwork at the library that I thought was gorgeous,
*Axl Prose the axolotl at the library,
*a chess set (library again, apparently they play there Saturday mornings),
*the Italian hoagie from Jim's (sorry the light on this shot is a bit lacking).
It was a very good day and we smiled a lot. We got plenty of exercise and fresh air and picked up some wonderful books; most of the ones I chose were from the "new books" rack. I'm looking forward to that! And of course, as always, there was delicious food!
I just watched Mamma Mia the other night and have plans to watch the second movie this weekend, so of course, I've been singing songs from the film all week. Here's one that I think fits: Our Last Summer, from the film Mamma Mia. Sophie does not know which of these three men is her father, and they are all sharing memories from the past. Enjoy! And I hope you too get to enjoy a fine summer day!
