A GREAT SUNDAY AT CHURCH & VISITING AN OLD FRIEND
Always on the lookout on a Sunday for something intersting and seeing the different shoes, sandals and trainers, I decided that “feet” would be my subject for today. The children are well used to me wandering around before the service and didn’t bat an eyelid when I asked if I could take a photograph of their feet, whereas the adults think I am quite mad - which may, or may not be true!
One little girl always grabs the ribbons from the instrument box, and today was no exception - they are all on quite large wooden rings, so she had all of them on her arm, and was quite happy for me to take a shot of them with her sandals. However, when I asked her and her sister if I should take a shot of Daddy’s trainers, I got an emphatic “No”!
It was a good service with great songs, although one or two I found a little emotional, but that’s fine - Church is a safe place to feel that. The preacher spoke about “Foolish Wisdom” which seems rather strange, but I guess that some people think that those of us who believe are foolish - but I’m at the age now where I’m not bothered what people think of the way I dress, my beliefs or anything else about me - we are all individuals and I know that God loves me “just as I am” - cue for a hymn there, if anyone remembers that one - and anyway, why should we all try to be like someone else?
So we have sparkly boots, pretty nails, pink sandals, purple trainers, more pink sandals and black and white spotty trainers. However, the husband of the lady wearing those said he felt quite left out so I said I would take a shot of his sandals too - don't want to cause any trouble between husband and wife! This couple are quite new to our Church and they must think I am completely nutty, but again, God made me like this and He loves me! Our duty Deacon for the day had some animal print flip flops, which completes the feet photographs.
I went to visit Jean, an old friend, who is in a Residential Home, after we had had coffee, and on our way home. She was pleased to see me and although apparently, she has been quite confused recently, today she was quite lucid and we chatted about the people we used to know at the Church where we got married, and many other things we had in common. She did tell me one or two things that I knew to be untrue, but that was fine - I didn’t contradict her, and moved on to chat about something else. It was so lovely to see her and then it was lunchtime for her, so I left. One of the lovely things I remember about Jean is that she did all my washing just after we had had our first baby - and it came back beautifully ironed - when I mentioned this to Jean and said I would never forget what she did, her comment was “That was what we did in those days - we helped one another!” It was so good today to be able to visit Jean and to chat about old times and I hope that she enjoyed it as much as I did.
The last photograph was a beautiful Philadelphus I saw in the grounds of the Residential home - it had a wonderful perfume, so I decided to take a shot of this to add to my collage.
Have a great week. Love to you all, M xx
P.S. You may remember that our children put their offerings into “Bob the Cow” each week and I understand they are now up to 8.6 chickens - not quite sure how much 0.6 of a chicken equates to, but I saw these lovely notes with drawings of chickens on the noticeboard in the hall where they have their lesson - see my extra. How lovely is that?
