To Everything There is a Season
And now it is the season for the Sundrop Evening Primrose (they close up when the sun goes down), the Spirea, and the Cranesbill Geranium. The peonies are still showing off, this is a lovely pink variety. Just as the Weigela bring the Swallowtail butterflies, the Spirea brings the Bumble Bees. I saw an enormous queen bee, but she was too fast for me to photograph. The queens often visit the flowers in the spring to build up their strength after their long winter nap. I will try for a bee portrait tomorrow. Right now, I'm waiting for a storm to move in.
