Yesterday I was watching the length of shadow cast by a little stick put in the corner of the lawn.  I started to measure it as near to the hour as possible and today filled in the gaps where the sun did not shine yesterday.  On neither day was it sunny around 3 o’clock and most of these are yesterday from 12 till 8. The influence of the sun is very apparent on some flowers which bloom only when the sun shines, like this orange osteospermum which didn’t open until after the haar cleared in late morning then closed again when cloud covered the sky.
