Knapweed

It was a lovely sunny morning, which is not quite what was forecast, so a lovely surprise. Thankfully we were not woken up at the crack of dawn.

I wasn’t sure what activity to do this morning, so accompanied a friend on a walk, the same walk as  I did yesterday, but it was new to him. It was also much brighter than yesterday which was nice. We got back in good time, and watched our friends who were still out on the water, windsurfing and kayaking.

After lunch a few of us drove over to Ben Lawyers and had a wander around the nature trail at the bottom of the hill. We were in a sun trap, which was just lovely. One of the group is an expert on wildflowers, and spotted lots of interesting things, both flowers and beasties.

It was then back to pack up and say our farewells, before the drive home.  We got home to find BB in bed. We both assumed he was hungover, but we were wrong. His body was aching so much after yesterday’s rugby, that lying in bed was the most comfortable place to be.

We made a quick tea, put the first load of washing on, and did a bit of tidying up, then collapsed into bed.

This beautiful knapweed (thanks Sallymair) was growing by a burn. The extra is common butterwort, and an orchid on Ben Lawyers.
