While on my runs

Trying to hide

Matariki was celebrated today, not only as a public holiday, but also as a welcome to the Maori new year. This is based on the first sight of the Matariki stars in the sky.

An unusually busy day. Spent the morning finishing reading the last book in a crime series; set in Denmark (Danish author, very good). Joined for lunch by Mr H who then helped me with preparing to make a garden by the eastern end of the back deck.

A late afternoon walk with my camera scored my Blip. This was one of a Kereru pair; its mate was more visible to my eyes and less so for the camera. I had previously seen a single Kereru, which was much more hidden. As were another pair arriving after the more obvious couple.

Daughter J had invited us to a Matariki display. She is a tutor in Architecture and the students (working in small groups) created a number of installations. Some were superb, a few seemed to miss the point, and the majority were excellent.

The extra is a selfie in which I appear to be behind the installation when I was actually in front of it; the case behaved as a mirror. The installation itself is a reflection on the start of the New Year
