Miss Flimsy

We are home after a brief visit to help out in Oxford and yet another awful Cross Country Trains carry on, but I'm not going to detail that as, after dinner I have spent a lovely hour or so in the company of a blackbird on our neighbour's chimney singing to the sunset.  I picked some of the first blackcurrants from the bush Tony planted for me by the house and wandered around with my camera enjoying the gentle warmth of the evening.

When I was teaching, an eccentric colleague had nicknames for some members of staff.  They were usually gentle, not at all rude, but identified the person perfectly.  Miss Flimsy was one of those nicknames he had for a member of staff who dressed in floating layers and was quite ethereal.  These poppies, which are scattered, have scattered themselves all over the garden made me think of Miss Flimsy.  They barely last a day when they open as they attract lots of different eager bugs, but they keep on throwing out blooms.
