Phuopsis stylosa

One of my original Corry Croft nursery plants from 2023 was Phuopsis stylosa, or Caucasian Crosswort. It's doing very well on the upper level and has an absolute wealth of flowers this summer (it was much more muted last summer).

It's been quite a week or so for shoes. First off, in the middle of last week I wore a pair of shoes I found in my wardrobe that I hadn't worn for a while. Bad mistake. The reason they look brand new is because they rip my heels to pieces. They have to go to the clothing recycling.... Then I had the incident with the shoes with the rotten soles, which led me to change in the middle of the day to the spare shoes I keep in the office for graduation and emergencies. I was wearing those same shoes on Wednesday for the formal events. I changed into a pair of sandals at Glasgow Queen Street station as I waited for the train. I discovered this morning that I had lost one of the shoes and - probably more expensively - also the orthotic that was in the shoe. I must have failed to put it back inside my bag, or it fell out as I was zipping the bag back up. Unusually, I didn't check around myself when I stood up to go and get the train, probably because I was more bothered about the cup of coffee I had in a paper cup, which I needed to keep myself alert for the rest of the day. When I discovered the loss of the shoe this morning, and when I'd checked in the car, I left a message on the Glasgow Queen Street lost property answerphone and when they phoned back in the middle of a meeting, I felt I had to take the call as I thought they must be phoning with good news. In fact, they were not. No shoes were handed in to lost property yesterday, so it presumably ended up in landfill when the cleaners came round. I guess the reason the guy, with a strong weegie accent, called back was so he could use what is probably a well worn line. He signed the call off with "bad luck, Cinderella". The bloody cheek!

Anyway, I've ordered a replacement orthotic (I don't wear them that much these days, and not in sandals in summer, so it's not too serious) and I guess I will have to buy a new pair of black shoes for formal wear at some point.

Anyway, anyway, it was lovely to work up here today. It's warm and generally quite sunny, but not too hot. A perfect temperature really. I let myself down slightly by preferring beer in the garden to doing a peloton workout, so I will have to make up for that tomorrow. Despite not leaving the property, I managed to do a welter of steps going backwards and forwards around the garden doing bits and pieces of tidying up.

Dinner was in the garden. Mr A had made a couple of quiches for later in the weekend when we have friends round. We decided to have slices out of one of them, with a salad, for dinner. The salad had lots of our own herbs in it, as well as sorrel leaves we have grown from a seedling.

An extra of a wider view of the front garden, where I have attempted to clone the 20 mph sign out....
