Baby Blackbird & Biking

There was a lot of commotion in the garden from the Blackbirds. Wasn't sure what it was about but usually it's about babies in trouble. Sure enough, I was watering the pots, hanging baskets and plants when from behind a Strawberry pot this baby Blackbird raced out flapping and squawking. It ran into 'The Triangle', an area of the garden with some bushes, and Ziggy gave chase. I don't think he meant any harm to it but it frightened it enough to make it run further until it was at the corner of the retaining wall.
I picked it up to put it up out of harms way but it just flapped back down to ground level so I took Ziggy into the house until things calmed down.
Marlane said I should not have handled the baby as the parents might now abandon it, I hope not.
The other bit of today was a bike ride to Hereford for the funeral of my very dear Aunty Grace (Extra). When I was a boy I used to love staying with her and her husband, Uncle Bob.
She was the last of my fathers 9 brothers and sisters (5 of each), a real end of an era for the Rose side of the family. Many of my cousins were there, of course, but it's a shame that we only get together at funerals. Marlane did organise a reunion, in July 2007 (Memorable because Lennon was a new born baby, now he's 18). There were 54 people of the Rose / Barton family. Bartons came from my Grandma's side of the family, Annie Rose nee Barton.
The bike ride was 1hr 15 minutes each way along country roads. The satnav did try to steer me onto the M50 motorway, to go via Ross-on-Wye, but I carried on along the B road taking me past Newent, Upton Bishop, Fownhope and other small villages.
Pressing the 'Ride Home' button it took me back a totally different way, but it was a great ride. Sweltering weather, and I did wear my bike jacket but all zipped vents wide open.
After getting home at 17:30 I set off again at 18:45 but only to downtown Gloucester for a meeting of the Gloucester Armed Forces Day committee, which lasted an hour.
