Living my dream

Reflections

Having laboured all morning in Gemma's garden I decided to give myself a break this afternoon. My back was a bit achy and my proximal hamstring tendinopathy was playing up a bit: time to listen to my body.

So Bean and I set forth, and spent two and a bit hours walking the double circuit of Bortons Pond. It was no hardship. Walking eases both my back and hamstring. And my mind.

And of course, Beanio was beside herself as we drew near to her favourite walk of them all. She squeaks and churns around in the back of the car once we get onto the lane leading to the parking spot. She rockets out of the back of the car when I open the boot; tail helicoptering, ears pricked, legs going like the clappers.

We met one person: an electrician working on resetting the timers on the outlet gates. I recognised him from some work he did for me when I first moved into Chez M&B, eight years ago, and he remembered me too. We had a pleasant 10 minutes catching up, chatting about what a lovely work place he has this week.

This reflective view was taken just behind where he was working. The clouds were good today. Quite a novelty after several days without any.

The extra is the picture I take every time I'm at Bortons, looking up the Waitaki River to the snowy Mary Range and Mount Dommett. I never get tired of that view.
