Bonfire
It is one of my favourite garden activities :-) I have maybe four bonfires a year, primarily to dispose of cabbage tree leaves which refuse to compost, and which if left lying around, get tied up inside my lawnmower and line trimmer.
Most of it had burned away by the time I thought of getting a Blip today, but the damp bits of wood that were in there are still smouldering away several hours later, and will likely do so all night.
It's been a busy day at home with barely any time indoors.
Except that first thing (while the frost slowly lifted outside) I mixed and proved a couple of sourdough loaves, which I'll bake tomorrow morning. The extra shows the first (of four) stretches and folds, to demonstrate to Melisseus the typical wetness of my dough.
Bean and I enjoyed yet another sunny walk and a catch up with various neighbours en route. And after a brunch-hour reading in the sun on the sofa I got moving in the garden.
As well as the bonfire I began digging up herb plants from the twitch-infested herb bed, and relocated them to the raised bed I have earmarked for them. I also lifted an artichoke root and - with a lot of heft - managed to divide it into three new plants to put into that same raised bed. There are more of them to dig up, as well as the cardoon plant. Another day.
I pulled up the bean wigwams, stacked the canes in the garage and added the dead plants to the pile of stuff waiting to be mown into small pieces for the compost bin. Another day.
Bean supervised.
A good day.
