Mountain Memories
Way back in the mists of time, before Ruth was born .... so almost thirty years ago, I went on my first mountain flower holiday. An organised tour to the Pyrenees. We stayed in Andorra for a week and then crossed to France, staying a week near Gavarnie. In Andorra I collected a little seed of an Erythronium that I still grow and near Gavarnie I saw Iris latifolia in flower, alongside it a dead stem with a seedhead atop it. Inside the seed head, a few seeds remained. From those seeds, these blue irises flowering in my garden today, were derived. These are second or third generation but remain identical to the flower I saw all those years ago. A kind of time travel.
Another busy work day. Busier than Monday but all went smoothly. After work and some tea, a walk at Rhydyronen with Jamie and Julie. They fed the donkeys - extra pic. I stood back, to keep Meg from making a fuss. Nice day.
