Roman Coast

I met up with Don today from WDCC for a ramble, a mumble and a few photos.
Cumbrian coast today, I have been missing this rugged coast since moving inland.
We met at Maryport Cemetery,  Don was on a mission for a "creative"  project. I was angling for nothing in particular but cemeteries can be interesting and Maryport was no exception. Many interesting headstones and even trees marking some graves.
Two Kestrels seemed to be resident , I managed to get a shot of one as it moved from tree to gravestone to chapel.
Then up the coast to Crosscannonby and a walk up to the Roman Fort (Milefortlet 21) dating from Emperor Hadrian 122AD.  Looking out over the coast to the Salt Pan workings, much more recent - only 400 years old.  I was listening to Skylarks and got an image of what I thought was one but now I think it's actually a Sedge Warbler.
After that back to Maryport to the harbour cafe for a Sausage Roll and a cup of tea.  The unusual Maryport lighthouse another extra.
A fine morning.
