Ovipositing

The heat of the afternoon brought this female Emperor dragonfly onto the pond here. I think she'd done a few recces swooping over prior to this but now she was egg laying in a very satisfactory manner.

I'd like to have jumped for joy if I could but instead grabbed the camera which was to hand in case of just this eventuality. Millie was in the pond too hiding amongst the irises at one time they were nose to nose and I just prayed she wouldn't either move or eat it. Luckily for me neither of these catastrophes occurred. 

Consultants appointment tomorrow morning so I see then where I go from here.
