Solitary butterfly

Our lavender is usually full of butterflies.  This year it is full of bees but this is the first single butterfly I have seen.  It's a Green-Veined White butterfly - newly emerged and yellow underneath - which I have rarely seen before.  I managed to get its proboscis and antennae in focus before it fluttered off.  In 2023, which was a bumper butterfly year, I saw 17 species of butterflies on the lavender - so sad!

It isn't as hot in the Chilterns as it is in London and the east of England.  The thermometer in the shade hit 22C today and we went for a lovely walk around West Wycombe Park - 1770s Music Temple on an island in the lake in the extra.
