Mealy bug destroyer

... apparently!

I have seen several of these weird, alien looking bugs in my garden this year and on googling it apparently it is a good thing to have as it devours mealy bugs!!  New to me but it is a very odd thing to see. 

a quiet day but with a lunch out at a local pub to say farewell to a dear neighbour. She is upping sticks and heading to East Sussex .. we hope she will be very happy there but it is a shame she is going quite so far away.. still an excuse to go and meet her at some point in the near future. 
Rest of the day .. quiet and warm and I have restocked the house with food so better go and try and concoct a meal now
