Pillings Lock Marina

Haircut and hair wash day for Basil. Nowadays we take him to Roslyn who has a parlour just outside Loughborough at the top of Flesh Hovel Lane. Make of that what you will. It's close to the River Soar, around 200 yards from the sewage works.

We had to stop taking Basil to Nan because we believe her Aunt has been taken ill and she is no longer doing grooming because she's having to look after the kennels. I think.

Anyway, just down the road from the groomers lies Pillings Lock Marina which has a superb café/restaurant. It was flooded out in January 2024 and has been totally refurbished. Today, it was possible to use the café, sitting outside on the decking and enjoy a cooked breakfast. This was our view.

I was delighted to see a Common Tern hover over the water briefly and then dive for fish.

Len was amazingly relaxed and even enjoyed sitting outside waiting for Basil to be ready.

The first time we used this groomer, I was surprised to see that she had numerous dogs in the room but perhaps they all get on with one another. Basil has no choice now. He doesn't seem to be put out about it.

On the way home, we stopped at Beacon Hill lower car park for a cool drink and for Basil to have a run.
