A dramatic coastline
I had arranged to meet Dave Mawby this morning. We know each other through a group that Margaret Soraya runs for photographers. We met on a previous visit when I had three extra days on the island due to a strike at the airport.
We met at Dial Beag where there is a small but lovely beach. The fields all around are full of buttercups and flag irises.
Dave showed me a walk along the cliffs and to this wonderful natural arch.
After the walk, we went in his car to Ness, the most northerly point of Lewis. There is a very good café there. We managed to blag our way in for a table by promising to eat quickly. Since the food is all freshly cooked, the time rolled on, but we were reassured that we could stay.
Then we had a walk to the lighthouse at Ness Point. It was fine and quite warm, but the sun never appeared.
Dave is a very considerate host. He carried my backpack for me and helped me over stiles. I now have yet more places I wish to return to…..
We talked all day. It was great fun
I’m up the hill before going back for dinner. There is still no phone signal, never mind WiFi!
