Gently down the stream

Enchanter's Nightshade

I've been wanting to blip this for years - partly because the flowers are so small (4-8mm) that with my eyesight, and the fact they grow in shady places, it's impossible to see what they really look like without something to magnify them.  The description I have of them says they are two-petalled, so clearly each petal is split almost but not quite to the base, and that they're part of the willowherb family.  Exactly why thay have the name they do is not something I've really been able to fathom.  The reasoning is laid out in Geoffrey Grigson's The Englishman's Flora, but I'm afraid it's slightly above my pay grade so I'm keeping quiet about that!

In London tomorrow so I may land up blipping rather later than usual.  If I don't manage all commenting promise I'll catch up on Tuesday.

Have a good Sunday evening  xx
