The deed is done!
A pleasant bright and breezy day. Lots to see in the garden.
All the roses are looking wonderful and the first Cosmos and Sweet peas are flowering, it really must be summer.
Most of them were blowing about quite a bit when I went out to get some photos before church this morning but there are things in the greenhouse that are of interest and not moving about at all.
The first tomatoes are developing - extra - and we have three pumpkin plants. I don’t claim to understand these but two have promising looking swellings and there are large blousy yellow flowers. Apparently these female flowers have to become acquainted with separate male flowers. On Friday we were waiting for these to develop. I mentioned it to someone at our book group and she commented that it was the norm to be waiting for the men!
Yesterday Chris was able to put an open male flower to the female one so here we hopefully have the beginnings of a pumpkin! If so it will be going to the girls for Halloween.
Waiting for more male flowers for the other two plants now so maybe there will be more than one!
