Second-time-around

Waiting corridor

They were so short of waiting spaces at the hospital today that some patients had to sit here at the end of a corridor.

I thought I was going for a simple eye consultant appointment. Last time I had various tests but was given no information. Today they did more tests and I asked when I would get information on what was wrong with my eye. I was told I would be seeing the consultant today. So I saw two different nurses for different tests, then the consultant, and finally a nurse for a procedure I had not been told would happen in this appointment.

Today the two different nurses, the consultant, and the eye injecting nurse all asked me for my date of birth and first line of my address! The fourth time was definitely one too many!

The consultant said there was an urgent need for treatment (yet they made me wait a month since my last appointment). The treatment would be done TODAY and involved an injection into my eye! And I have to have one of these every month for the next three months.

They said it wouldn’t hurt. But it did! They said I shouldn’t drive after this injection. But they hadn’t told me this BEFORE drove there! 15 miles each way.
