BEST BUDS!
It looks like these two have become best buds. They stay on the feeder together for minutes at a time - as long as they don’t see me trying to take a picture of them. I was surprised to see that the female cardinal is so much larger than the male goldfinch. Luckily I’d adjusted my ‘exposure compensation’ by the time I took this shot.
Just a minute earlier, there were three birds on the feeder at the same time. (two female cardinals & this goldfinch) Evidently three’s a crowd, because I was able to get only two quick shots before one flew away. I acted fast so I wouldn’t miss the chance to get three-in-one, which unfortunately didn’t give me time to adjust the exposure compensation. (You’ll see on Flickr why that adjustment was absolutely necessary.) Anyway, it was an exciting moment! In that shot this cardinal looks like she’s telling the other one, “Three’s a crowd, so get lost”.
I’ve posted far too many ‘birds at the feeder’ shots; but honestly, after waiting so long for any birds to show up, it’s lots of fun to see them.
