En voyage
Quite a delay at Le Shuttle (channel tunnel) terminal at Folkestone this morning. We arrived with nearly an hour to spare before our train was due to leave at 08.54 but we hardly had time for a quick comfort break before our departure number was called. It then took best part of an hour to clear the two passport controls meaning we were about 30 minutes late departing. To be fair there were a lot of cars there this morning with most, I guess, like us, heading to Le Mans for the 24 Hour race. Certainly there were a lot of sports cars there although I didn't think my red Astra Turbo looked that out of place. The main photo is of us nicely tucked up in the train waiting for it to start it's 34 minutes journey to Calais. From there it was autoroute driving - A16 and A28 - nearly the whole way with two stops for refuelling body and machine on the way. The extra shows our three cars parked by the gite in the grounds of the chateau/country house at Mont-Saint-Jean where we stay. We popped to the Super-U supermarket a few miles away after we unpacked and feasted on cold meats cheese and salad for our evening meal, washed down with a couple of beers. It's been a very long day and I shall sleep well tonight.
