Thirty degrees of difference
Another superlative day. An early morning drive to Lake Kari at 3200m and where the temperature was about positive 3. We descended for around 10 miles to the castle ruins of Amberd Fortress and into afternoon temperatures of 30 degrees. The grassy slopes were swathed with blue, yellow and pink flowers, impossible not to walk over them, the bluest gentian I’ve ever seen.
We arrived back in Yeveran in time for me to dash to a clothing store and at last top up my extremely limited supplies - my case is still not here.
Dinner at a carpet factory where we had to make an effort to look interested in the pre dinner tour. A decent night’s sleep beckons.
Extra is the summer camp of the nomadic Yazidi sheep and cattle herders in their summer pastures, guarded by large, loud Armenian sheepdogs trained to kill wolves. We walked past them in a close huddle.
