Tennis at Queens

This morning I went to granddaughter's  school assembly..all about  the Greeks which they have been studying this term. She was Poseidon , dressed appropriately plus had a big trident her Dad had made! She spoke very well.

I then went on train to Barons Court to meet a friend and  go to the Women’s WTA500 event at Queens Club.  This is the first year they have had a women’s event, this week, followed by the usual men’s event next week. We only had ground tickets, not a ticket for the main court now renamed the Andy Murray Arena. The extra is the view from our seat on No1 court which has unreserved seating and you can also look to the right and see the big screen on the outside of the main court and watch progress there too!

We watched a good doubles match 12-2.30  but then there was no other match scheduled on No1 until 5pm which was disappointing.  No matches on the other show courts just lots of players practising including some of the men who will be there next week….acclimatising to grass. Some of the ladies were in both singles and doubles matches today and had to be given a rest in between!  Four matches were scheduled on the main court as three had British players. Only Emma Radacanu won. We watched her practising beforehand and you can see her in the main photo.

I usually go earlier in the week when there are more matches as less have been knocked out. Next week going on Tuesday for the mens.
