Jelly Terror

You can see the terror etched on the faces of the 9am dippers after we noticed a Lion’s Mane jelly fish nestling at the side of the slip as we prepared to enter the water. Two of the ladies had came prepared with leggings and rash top but the rest of us took a chance just in our bathing costumes. I have brought up with me an Aussie rash suit, a fine netlike garment with arms and legs yards long and very difficult to get in and out of. I’ll see how it goes whether or not I deploy it. Anyway the jelly stayed put and we didn’t see its family anywhere else.

One of the Selkies brought her little granddaughter to visit this morning. She’s not quite two and was very suspicious of me- I seem to have a face that small toddlers find untrustworthy and a bit scary. She was tired and fell asleep before I had a chance to work my magic on her. Three Selkies had 3 granddaughters within a month or two of each other in the late summer of 2023 . Now it’s really interesting to see how their little personalities are developing .

The wind has strengthened during the day and the sea outside the window is a sea of white horses. I did a short stravaig round the policies after lunch  and……..yes, I admit to having had another ice cream  which I enjoyed licking while sitting out of the wind behind Rae’s statue near the harbour. Things are going down hill already!
