MONDAY

I’ve been trying to shake off a cold for the last few days—without much success—and today I was picked to play in two bowls matches!

The first game was at 10:00 am with the "B" team, a re-arranged match against Vardre Deganwy. I won my game comfortably, 21-7.

The team had six winners and picked up another two points for the aggregate.

This afternoon, I headed over to join the "A" team for an away match against Dyserth. After leading 17-16, I lost the jack and things slipped away and I ended up losing 21-17.

The team didn’t fare much better overall, with just two winners out of ten.

The measuring instruments were laid out on the table at Dyserth. They included string measures, commonly used when players can’t agree which bowl is closest to the jack. Calipers come out when the bowls are too close for string measures, and the big tape measure is used when there's a challenge about the mat-to-jack distance—it has to be at least 18 metres.

Oh and the bell is used to signal the start and finish of the 15 minutes practice we are allowed before the game.
