Day 41: Definitely different

Awoke to a morning of hazy overcast humidity, uncomfortably wet warm, which after 40 days of burning dry heat was, to say the least, unusual.  As the morning wore on, my general discomfort eventually necessitated walking to the beach after saying good bye to Anita and Marie who returned to Sweden.  Going to my usual spot - but this time walking right to the end of the pier to sit and enjoy the blissful relief of a perfectly cast afternoon of breeze. Swim, snooze and suddenly it was 6pm and Nicola arrived (with her children Luke and Rachel). The breeze was now a definite wind and we ate at the restaurant on the wooden pier, catching flying serviettes and ketchup sachets,  before driving home via a quick drop in to Bim supermarket. Once home, Connie was in need of a stroll and we found the wind was now of horizontal palm trees strength and the moon peeping out from behind some really Hammer-house-of-horror scurrying clouds when, as I took this picture, everyone at BL realised that there was a blazing fire on the horizon. For the next hour we watched the raging flames and clouds of smoke whipped by the strong winds - we think it was the forest behind Akbuk - until finally, the clouds of smoke dwindled and faded.  No doubt the emergency fire services here get far too much practice - this is the third such fire since I arrived 7th July, but by far the worst.
