Sleeping Buddha...

...slowly being engulfed by a fast growing plant which John thinks is a variety of dogwood and Siri thinks it is either a violet or a nemesia. I know Siri is wrong but perhaps there is such a thing as a creeping dogwood....

John is right. I just checked with Google . It is also known as bunchberry and is listed as a groundcover, but as can be seen here, it will also crawl up anything in it's way.  We like it so we just let it do it's thing. Anything that grows this vigorously in our garden is welcome. But we also like the Buddha so we'll cut it back a little before long.

Our other Buddha was being engulfed by a buddleia. We don't want to cut it back so , well, credit where credit is due, Dana moved him over as far as possible without impaling him on a spiky agave. There is a picture of him in extras.

The Buddhas are probably not organic rock, although the sleeping one might be limestone, and they certainly aren't 'soft' but I think the flowers and foliage are soft and contrast nicely with the stone.

It's been a day of playing team tag with the car. I went to Pilates where I was both off form and unable to do quite a few things which required lifting weights. The teacher, Sheresse, has had a 'frozen shoulder' for quite awhile, so she could relate to the fact that I can't quite straighten my arm or lift it above my head. It is healing well but I don't want to pull on the stitches before they come out next week.

Then John went off to his appointment at the dermatology clinic. If I didn't know that we are but two out of legions who go to that place, I would be tempted to say that we are keeping them in business.

I spent much of the afternoon going through old photos looking for one Dana requested with her Dad. I found it, but old snapshots don't age well so I don't know if she will be able to use it. I did have fun looking through boxes of old snapshots, but I was also reminded that there is more, a lot more, organizing to be done in that department.

We are about to go together to have dinner with Mike and Kathy. A nice end to a busy day.
