Female Beautiful Demoiselle damselfly

It's been a lovely sunny day today.  I decided to visit Bystock Pools first thing.  The main part of the large pool was still in shadow and I didn't see any dragonflies or damselflies around.  As I walked amongst the shrubbery towards the smaller pools I spotted this female damselfly.  It spent some time in the sun interspersed with short brief flights.  May be it has recently emerged.

I then walked to the pool where one distant skimmer was flying by.  I continued around the reserve enjoying the walk and birdsong.  By the time I was back at the main pool a large number of blue damselflies were out along with a few red ones.  I stopped to have a chat with a friend who had just arrived and then returned home for coffee.

The rest of the day has been making sourdough bread and getting things together for the upcoming holiday trip.
