Rasing Machine Paets

A lovely calm and sunny day, warm too.  A windy and fairly dull evening.

A day working with Lindsay.  We've been weed spraying in Lerwick, mostly in the old lanes.  With a cruise ship in, we also emptied a few of the busy bins.  Mam popped by for a cuppa after work.  Been down to the peat hill this evening, then a cuppa at Laura's.  Time for feet up now.

I'm still having bother with my knees, I definitely made the right choice by getting machine cut peat this year.  Taking away the casting of the peat makes things easier  but also the machine cut peat is super fast to raise.  With the help of mam and Jonny, we finished both mine and mam's peats tonight.  I'll give it a couple of weeks drying, then turn them again.  Hopefully they'll burn just as good in my fire over the winter.  Mam and Jonny busy at work raising the peats off the ground, wind drying.  Taken at the North Peat Hill, Cunningsburgh.
