Erpingham Peony Farm
We had a camera club meet & shoot at a peony farm today. It was a little on the bright side, being mid-afternoon and a tad windy, so not without its challenges. It was a very pleasant way to spend a couple of hours, trying to do justice to these pretty and delicate flowers.
Of course, I just couldn't resist making an 'intentional camera movement' image my main blip. A 'Marmite' method of photography I know, but I felt it suited the impressionistic look I was seeking and helped to temper the bright contrasty light.
I have added extras of the owner's friendly and very gently dog who was seeking shade behind the small marquee. Also, a table set up to illustrate how peonies lend themselves to dressing tables at a wedding (I got all excited for a moment when I saw the champagne glasses, but sadly they were for demonstration purposes only). The last extra shows the seed pods forming in the middle of the flower before the petals start to fall away.
A most enjoyable afternoon away from decorating the conservatory. M did a great job finishing off all the emulsion painting today. Just the gloss paint to do tomorrow and then we're finished.
