Baby Dunters

A fine day, although mostly cloudy but calm.  A fine evening too.

Back to work, and a day working with James.  I've been helping build new wheelie bins, ready for delivery tomorrow.  Also a couple of wheelie bin repairs too.  Mam popped by after work.  Me, mam and Jonny headed to the peat hill to raise the peats this evening, we made a good start.  Popped by Laura's for a cuppa after, Megan was along too.  Feet up now.

We headed down the road before lunch to sort a wheelie bin.  I had a quick look along the ayre, and spotted a family of Dunters (Eider Ducks) swimming along, feeding as they went.  When I was young, we had healthy numbers, but recently the numbers dwindled, due to too many Bonxies (Great Skua).  After Bonxies were almost wiped out with bird flu, many other species have thrived, like the Dunters.  There was three mam ducks, and counted nine babies, possibly more.  It was hard to snap them all, as they kept diving up the water.  Take at Sandsayre, Leebitton, Sandwick.
