Kuchen- und Brunnenfest

This festival celebrates and depicts an incident in the 14th century when the salters of Schwäbisch Hall rescued the town miller and his family when his corn mill had caught fire. In gratitude for his rescue the miller donated a huge cake and wine to the salters. It should be given to them on Peter and Paul's day as long as the town walls existed.
The active salt production ended in the 19th century, but the descendants of the salters and their guild are still proud of their heritage.
