Life is a Challenge!

BREAKFAST ON PENTECOST SUNDAY

A good service, when the Pastoral Care Team and a few other helpers provided breakfast for any of the Church Family who came.  It’s obvious to me that many or our children don’t have breakfast before they come because they always tuck in and enjoy whatever is provided - croissants, chocolate croissants, toast and marmalade, fruit and juices of various sorts and coffee or tea.

It’s always a rush, and today was no exception for us because we thought we were on Steward duty next week, but when the rota came out on Friday, our names were down for today.  However, in between my Pastoral Care hat and the Steward hat, we managed it.  I did go round beforehand, as I normally do, to take some photographs and always love to see the Praying Hands cross stitch, which was done by a dear lady who died in 2023.  I’m not sure when she actually stitched this, but I know I would have found this incredibly difficult with the different shades.

The alstroemeria flowers looked beautiful in the foyer and there is a general view of the Church about 20 minutes before the service started.

I took a shot of the breakfast with Gill’s hands just taking some marmalade and then thought I would take a shot of her and her husband, but he chose to turn away from the camera - so I told him that would be the shot in my Blip for today!

Our sermon today was about the Prodigal Son, and this is always my undoing, so I did shed a few tears.  As we had had an incident in Church when one of our members was taken ill, our friend Louise wasn’t beside as she would normally have been, and Mr. HCB was still on Steward duty in the foyer, so I felt a bit alone and vulnerable but another friend came over and just hugged me - and I didn’t have to say anything, she knew!

The last shot may seem a bit strange, but having told Becky, another friend at Church, that I was in some discomfort from where the patches are on my body for the heart monitor, she told me that she knew all about that, and suggested I use an ice pack to help with the irritation, so as soon as we got home, I did just that.  There must be something in the sticky pads that is irritating my skin, so it’s a good job that they will be coming off at 12 noon tomorrow, before the monitor is taken back.

Hope you all have a great week and be blessed.  M xx
