Coniston and Arnside

Mr H always says that without rain there would be no lakes in the Lake District and he is factually right. However why does it always rain when we decide to come for a weekend?

We wandered around Kendal this morning and got soaked! It is however a lovely town. We then headed to Staveley to have an ice cream from Kimi’s Gelato. (It is superb). I had sea buckthorn flavour today which was amazing. Mr H had Dubai Chocolate!

The day was still young so we decided to have a drive round the southern Lakes. Ambleside looked to be heaving with people, Coniston looked fairly quiet apart from the many runners taking part in some super long endurance event.

The car park at the head of the lake was closed because of the event so we stopped on the lake side down beyond Torver heading to Greenodd. I quite like the photo I got.

As we headed back the light improved and the rain stopped so we headed up to the beautiful view point above Sizergh castle. The extra is taken from there - showing the railway bridge from Arnside to Grange.

Despite the weather a lovely day
