2 Roses Between 2 Thorns
Or so I was told to say! Mixed day that started very well with plans to patronise Zaghéra Cocktail Restaurant for breakfast. I know it sounds a little early for cocktails but this place also serves a creditable breakfast omelette and delectable little pastries with something white and a little ricotterish inside with a hint of the ubiquitous lemon.
This was followed by more hairpin bends to a little town known as Massa Lubrense where a small alimentary chain with the name Conad resembled something akin to what we normally call a supermarket. I am reliably informed by the lemon poking S-I-L that it is one of the largest supermarket chains in Italy (see yesterday’s lemony blip). Once stocked up we proceeded back to the campsite for rest/work/sun/ and whatever else claims to be relaxing. Unfortunately the van skylight had been left without a cover and the bedroom fan was extracting instead of cooling down and it provided a Dante’s Inferno for L who was very tired and just couldn’t get any precious sleep! Very frustrating!
Things picked up nicely as I had been snorkelling on my own but everyone decided it was time to submerge in Amalfine waters and this was a most refreshing diversion.
The day is coming to a close after a fine dinner provided by D who cooked us African Chicken accompanied by salad and followed by a yoghurt, peach and amaretti dessert. Yum! This was accompanied by a bottle of Lacryma Christi del Vesuvio (specially remembered for LV)
Tomorrow we are off to some island named after an old British motor car - Ford Capri. Apparently a glass of water might cost us all I have left in my bank account. We are packing our own sandwiches so we don’t have to take out a mortgage for our lunch.
