A sweet touch

I travel a lot and have all sorts of pill organizing boxes and bags. Usually I will sort out my vitamins and any prescription medication into these in advance of a trip so that I do not have to bring a bunch of bottles with me. Two nights ago when I was packing my bag for my overnight book club meeting I did not bother with the organizing since it was just one night and I just threw my vitamins and daily prescription into a little Ziploc baggie. I was sure I knew what was what just by the look of it. Maybe not….
After a nice day on the beach with my book club friends as well as my mom, we came back to the beach house and freshened up. Everyone met downstairs for a glass wine before dinner. Normally at dinnertime, I take my allergy tablet and an anti-inflammatory prescription pill for my back. I had taken the two pills, came down to join the others, and poured myself a glass of lemonade. We were all talking and I do not remember too much else until we were sitting at the table for dinner and I looked across the table and was seeing double…well, no triple of the person sitting across from me. Then I remember looking at my lemonade and thinking perhaps there was alcohol in it. I could not understand why I was feeling so weird.
My mom had suggested I lay down and I remember going into the screened in porch and falling asleep for a while. After about an hour or so my mom came back to check on me and I sat up and told her I had missed dinner. She looked at me as if I was crazy and told me that in fact I did eat dinner. I had no memory of it at all. I got up and went to the living room where everyone was discussing possibilities for our next book to read. We stayed up a while and I remember getting ready for bed at which time I usually take my vitamins. I looked at the baggie and I realized what I had done. I mixed up the pills and took Ambien before dinner instead of my allergy pill! I was sleepwalking throughout the entire evening! It was not until the morning that my mom filled me in as to how I was acting. She said I had been acting drunk and talking loudly and telling old family stories and even slurring my words! She had no idea why I was acting like that because she knew I had nothing to drink. I did not remember a thing!
When I explained to everyone what had happened some were saying they assumed I had added vodka to my lemonade! One of the women thought that maybe I was having a stroke or something. I was lucky nothing horrible happened but it was such a surreal experience.
Although I have trouble sleeping and a doctor prescribed the medication for me, I think that whole experience has made me rethink taking it. I would rather count sheep!
The photo was taken on the beach today and is of my granddaughter and my husband’s fingers. They play this game where they touch fingers pretend it causes a buzzing like electricity. She loves it.

P.S. I have some catching up to do with my comments because of being away with only my phone to use for uploading my blip.
