Tandem on car on ferry on Lewis
We left Edinburgh for Ullapool much earlier than strictly necessary. This was because we didn't want to rush, and also to build in time to recover from any possible mishaps and still reach the ferry terminal for check-in at 16:45.
We made a couple of stops along the way. The first was at House of Bruar for tea/coffee and scones. We also made a perusal of the 'bargain shed' (I'm not sure that they would call it this) and the art and antiques hall. No purchases were made, although we witnessed another couple pay £4.5k(!) for a tiny bronze sculpture of a snipe. Our second stop was at Rogie Falls to 'biddy' our packed lunch and look at the waterfall.
In Ullapool we checked the charity shop and then sat down for more tea/coffee and a shared cake at Tea by the sea. There we chatted to two bikers who had just raced down to Ullapool from John O'Groats.
The crossing to Lewis was a little bumpy, but this didn't put us off two games of Scrabble (both won by you-know-who) and supper: chicken curry for me; steak pie and chips for Mr hazelh.
Ours was the fourth car off the ferry, so we were soon on the road out of Stornoway to Uig. Our hosts gave us a warm welcome before we crossed the courtyard to our accommodation to unpack and settle in for the night.
I have blipped our car and tandem in the ferry on arrival at Stornoway.
Exercise today: 1 hour on the exercise bike.
