The big boys have put
in an appearance in my
neighbourhood today

I was on my way to Tranquille this morning at 7 AM. I drove down the hill to Ord Road below my house to discover the train was coming out of the junction behind me. I wanted to get to the last rail crossing before it did, but suddenly my plans changed.

By the rock bluff before the last crossing I spotted a little band of big horn sheep grazing in the shadows. I pulled my car over onto the shoulder and put my window down. My hybrid makes little or no noise, so as long as I shut off my radio, the sheep tend to ignore me.

I hadn't realized that the big fuel trucks heading to the airport use this road. One rolled along scattering the herd. They bolted up the steep, rocky hillside away from the road. When the truck left I could hear the scree clattering as it fell from those agile hoofs. It tinkled as it hit the ground.

I am impressed with the ability of the sheep to navigate the landscape and how their colouring makes them so suited to it. As these lads looked back at the offending fuel truck they continued to chew on their breakfast as if this was all part of a normal day in their life.  The one ram that appeared to be the leader sat himself down and waited on the rest of the band. He seemed unfazed by it all.

Blip sorted, I'm home for the day with paperwork that needs my attention.
