Thomas Chippendale. 1718 - 1779.
Today is our 58th Wedding Anniversary.
A visit to Nostell Priory for an introductory tour to celebrate Thomas Chippendale’s birthday, which is on the 5th June.
The house is said to have the biggest collection of his work.
Along with Robert Adam they designed the interior of the house, which was built by Sir Rowland Winn in 1733.
As well as a furniture he supplied other things such as textiles, and wallpaper.
The commissions complicated by delays, disputes, and unpaid bills. Always addressed by Sir Rowland Winn as inferior.
Certainly a very interesting tour. The collage shows some of my favourite pieces.
A beautiful delicate desk. Child’s chair. Folding library steps. Barometer. Cabinet. Fabulous bed made for the state bedroom.
We followed the tour with a walk round the walled garden, most of which is a superb vegetable plot. At the moment one of the walls is covered in the most beautiful white ‘ Iceberg’ rose.

Back home now and relaxing before going out for a meal this evening.
Great way to end a very enjoyable Wedding Anniversary.
