I took my wife to the Walk-in Centre at Woking Community Hospital this afternoon. She has had a painful leg for a few weeks and she could barely walk on it today without experiencing pain. She had a two hour wait but was pleased with the thoroughness of the examination she received and the clinician's assurance that she would refer her for physiotherapy review. The hospital has some non-acute inpatient beds but is mainly an ambulatory care facility with an Outpatients Department, the Walk-in Centre and an urgent GP referral unit. The hospital is run by Central Health Surrey which is an employee owned social enterprise, quite a unique structure for an NHS organisation. There's been building work going on there for some time and whilst the car park has reopened, and is bigger than before, the main entrance remains closed requiring a detour for any visitor to the wards.
