Made It!
A very long day:
- Up early for drive to Lisbon airport and hand car over.
- Flight full of Italians, left late, but exciting identifying Sardinia as we flew over.
- Palaver getting to where our hire car was.
- Incredible drive to and over and along the Amalfi peninsula, following Dave and Leyna’s camper van, round endless tight bends, meeting buses, necessitating back and forth manoeuvring, and hordes of motorcyclists with death wishes.
- Car full of youth who’d obviously been celebrating, scraping the Van, and then the driver yelling at us when he realised I had a photo of where his car was (way over to our side), and no, we weren’t going to hand over money.
- Stupendous scenery of bougainvillea covered towns perched on steep hillsides, plunging into sparkling turquoise water, but absolutely no chance of stopping anywhere for photos.
- Making it to our campsite in Marina del Cantone, almost on the tip of the peninsula - partial view above.
- Decompressing over excellent seafood, salad, pizza, pasta and wine in the campsite restaurant, and trying out bits of Italian.
- Much catching up with my sister and her husband, who are treating us to most of this holiday; we are in a mobile home.
- Blipping and bed, might just make it before midnight.
Gratefuls:
- Blippers who will understand dearth of comments this next week
- Dave and Mike’s driving; it really was such a mix of horrendous and amazing
- that we’ve got here, and can relax
