V&A East Storehouse

We drove back to London in time to visit V&A East Storehouse that opened at the weekend.  It's the V&A's store, containing 280,000 objects!  The objective is to have almost all the objects available to the public, either by being on display (on pallets for easy movement) or on request (5 objects at a time).

It's not easy to get your mind around on the first visit.  My collage has the rather dizzying view down through several floors from the glass walkway, the museum director introducing the concept, one of the lead curators with a wide variety of objects behind her (including part of the façade of a demolished tower block), the director again waxing lyrical about a frock by Balenciaga, the Kaufmann Office designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, and a theatre front cloth designed by Picasso (with people for scale).

Yesterday evening we went to Garsington again for their wonderful L'Elisir D'Amore by Donizetti.  In the extra there are 3 views of the opera house - across the lake, from the garden and with the audience streaming out after the performance - plus part of the magical set.
