Kanazawa

Due to forecast heavy rain, the planned mountain hike was changed to a walking tour of Shirakawa, a mountain village that could almost have been in the Austrian Alps (extra). After a Japanese lunch of soup and beef and rice and noodles and sardines and other things I didn’t recognise, we went to the old geisha area of Kanazawa. MrHCB did the short hike to one of the 3 most beautiful gardens of Japan. I will have to look at his photos because I couldn’t resist the opportunity to people-watch. Being Sunday afternoon, lots of young Japanese were parading in traditional dress or whatever other clothes they favoured.

Kanazawa prides itself on not being outdone by other ports’ farewells, so we had at least 100 youngsters in traditional dress dancing and singing and flag-waving as we departed - delightful!

PS I lost my internet signal yesterday, so I have just back-blipped that as well.
